The Beginnings of SPI Belize
In our friendship with Harvest Bible Chapel Turks and Caicos, Pastor Kenyatta Lewis (Pastor of Harvest TCI) told us of a potential church planter that he has had relationship with for the past 7+ years. Harvest TCI was looking for partnership in training and supporting this church plant in Belize, so through this relationship with Pastor Kenyatta, we were introduced to this church planter, Pastor Pedro Reyes. We communicated for several months as we got to know him, and when Pastor Steve McGinnis (SPI Director) was in Belize with a mission team over Christmas 2023, they were able to meet.
From there, we set up a trip to Belize with Pastor Kenyatta and representatives of SPI to start the training of Pedro as a church planting candidate.
This April, Pastor Steve McGinnis and John Creekmur (Members of the SPI Board of Directors) were able to travel to Belize to officially launch the training for our first Pastor in SPI Belize, Pastor Pedro Reyes.

Pastor Pedro Reyes
Please join us in welcoming Pastor Pedro Reyes and his family to the Summit Planting Initiative! Harvest Turks and Caicos is partnering with the Summit Planting Initiative to train and support Pastor Pedro as he seeks to become an official Church Planter in SPI Belize. Serving alongside him are his wife Maria and his five children.
In all walks of life, Pastor Pedro has truly lived out His calling to serve Christ in Belize. Having waited 10 years to have children, his parents prayed for a son and devoted that son to God’s service. That son was Pedro, and he says, “God has kept and fanned the flame in my heart of being His Servant. Through life’s education endeavors and work experiences, God has molded me into a sensitive, compassionate and passionate preacher of God’s word. God has used my life experiences to build knowledge, skills and attitudes to impact my country with His Word.”
He has a Masters Degree in Education (UWI), a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education (UB), and an Associates Degree in Theology and Pastoral Ministry (IBG Guate.). In addition to being the Pastor of his church since 2017, he has also been working as a school principal since 2009.
Please join us in diligently praying for Pastor Pedro in his training and as his family and church join the Summit Planting Initiative!
